CFL's for Tiffany Style Stained Glass Accent Lamps

Whether it is an accent lamp style Tiffany in your home, or a stained glass desk lamp in your office setting being used for task lighting, the bulb used should reflect the use it is serving. Namely, you use a lower wattage for accent use, and higher wattage for task lighting.

Tiffany style accent lamps, as with all stained glass lighting fixtures can be used with Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFLs). However, if the Tiffany style accent lamp is on a timer or dimmer, make sure that the timer or dimmer is compatible with CFLs.

While most CFLs come in "warm" colors to match the yellowish light of incandescent bulbs. you can also choose "cooler" colors with whiter and bluish hues for reading and task lighting. Color in lighting is measured on the Kelvin scale (K) and is marked on CFL packaging.

For warmer color look for 2700–3000K; 3500–4100K gives a bright white light; and 5000–6500K is bluer and most like daylight.
